The executives of Pro Star Management are company founder and President, Joe Bick, and his son, Executive Vice President, Brett Bick. The company was incorporated in August, 1986, in Cincinnati, OH, which still serves as its base of operations. The firm’s offices are located at 1600 Scripps Center, 312 Walnut Street, Cincinnati, OH 45202, directly across the street from Great American Ballpark.
Joe Bick is a 1973 graduate of Wittenberg University, Springfield, OH, and received his Master’s Degree in Sports Administration from Ohio University’s highly-regarded program in 1975. He was a four-year varsity baseball letterman as a college pitcher, and also earned a varsity football letter. Joe’s career in professional baseball began in February, 1975, in the front office of the Cleveland Indians, where he worked until June, 1980. He was Assistant to the President of the Tribe from May, 1978, until leaving to enter the athlete representation industry. Joe left the Indians organization to join the Edward J. Keating Management Agency in Cleveland, OH, as Corporate Vice President, spending six years in that position and building Keating’s baseball operation from eight clients to approximately 40. Joe’s hobbies include golf and bass fishing.
Brett Bick is a May, 2006, cum laude graduate of the Williams College of Business at Xavier University in Cincinnati, where he majored in Entrepreneurial Studies and Business Management, and minored in Spanish. He served an internship in Baseball Operations with the Cincinnati Reds throughout the 2006 season before joining Pro Star as its Vice President. Growing up in a baseball environment, and furthering his knowledge of the game’s workings during his time with the Reds, Brett’s seamless transition to Pro Star was a natural progression. He is an avid boater and mountain biker, and an accomplished ice hockey player.
Jeff Gatch played college baseball at both Aquinas College (TN), where he received an Associate in Arts Degree in 1999, and Oakland University (MI), from which he earned a Bachelor of Science in Communications in 2002. He was also drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 35th Round of the 1998 Rule IV Draft, and played for the Florence Freedom of the independent Frontier League in 2004. Jeff joined Pro Star Management in January of 2014 to fortify the company’s recruiting presence in the Midwest, and he brings with him an unmatched level of amateur ties in the area. He has been providing instruction as a baseball trainer since 2003, as well as running a recruiting video business that has helped numerous local high school athletes reach their goal of playing at the next level. Over the past decade, Jeff also made a name for himself while coaching the Cincinnati Flames, Cincinnati Baseball Club, Cincinnati Midland, and the 2012 CABA World Series Champion Ohio Heat. When not consumed by baseball, Jeff enjoys attending local high school football and basketball games.
Pro Star Management celebrated its 28th anniversary on August 23, 2014, and is poised for continued success well into the future in a business where many don’t last. We will sincerely appreciate your consideration of coming aboard as part of the Pro Star family!
